17 July 2023Itabus, the multimodal group operating both on railways and roads, is studying new routes to be launched from spring 2024, aiming to establish integrated bus-train services that connect major Italian railway stations to destinations across Europe. One of the key routes under consideration is Trieste-Budapest, potentially the first in a series of connections between the capital of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the capitals of Central and Eastern Europe. Currently, Itabus operates a fleet of 51 trains and 100 buses, with plans for future expansion, offering 24-hour connections between major cities, tourist towns, and key transportation hubs such as ports and airports.
Trieste will become increasingly connected, not only with the rest of Italy but also with Europe. Its strategic geographic location, coupled with the growing international interest it has been attracting in recent years, positions Trieste as a central hub according to evaluations.
